  • HIIII FROM MT ASSINIBOINE 🏔️🪻✨ Several years ago, I saw a single photo of Mt Assiniboine & became instantly obsessed with visiting this Canadian provincial park on the border of BC & Alberta. What I didn’t know at the time was just how much of a hidden gem this area really is! “…Cinnabon?” - every person’s reaction when I told them where we were climbing this summer 😂 But this is no bakery… it’s one of the most spectacular (& apparently underrated) parks in all of Canada, all centred around the iconic Mt Assiniboine— appropriately nicknamed “the Matterhorn of the Rockies” 🏔️ It’s a loooooong backpacking trip to even get into the park (30km to Lake Magog from our entry point at Sunshine Banff), but once you’re here, it’s a paradise of lakeside campsites, scenic day hikes, class 3/4 scrambles & airy summits truly unlike anywhere else.   • cheers to 4 years of full-time travel ✨ This week marked the 4 year anniversary of my one-way flight out of Melbourne, a decision that changed my life in more ways than I ever could have imagined. I’d saved $70k AUD & planned to travel for 2 years on that money before heading back home, back to the “real world”, back to the responsibilities everyone said I was supposed to want. But somewhere along the way I realised I’d changed too much to ever really go back & this WAS my real world now. It’s been 1460 days since I’ve had a permanent address or worked a regular job, and I know this life isn’t for everyone— I have no routine, no physical community, an ever-shifting calendar of timezones & a penchant for ending up in foreign hospitals— but it’s always felt like exactly what I was made for. My life on the road has given me so much. Freedom to write my own story, to pursue dreams that don’t fit into the confines of a normal life, to climb tall mountains & sleep under starry skies & swim in midnight oceans & breathe air from a million different moments in time. To find love & happiness & success on my own terms. Cheers to 50 countries & too many amazing moments to count, but most importantly, cheers to making this life whatever you want it to be 🍾✨
  • ‘there’s an entire world out there… why would you go to Wyoming?’ Several years ago, one of my best friends moved just outside of Jackson, and in the interest of seeing her after nearly a decade of living overseas, I somewhat reluctantly drove out on my endless 2020 road trip (freshly on the full-time travel scene) and was absolutely SWEPT off my feet. I’ve been out to Wyoming 4 times now— in the winter, in the autumn, in the summer, in the Tetons, in the Wind Rivers, in & around Jackson Hole. And it has become one of my absolute favourite states, an underrated gem in the middle of the Rockies with incredible mountains, thousands of alpine lakes, secluded hot springs, glittering aspen forests, and probably the most amazing winter weather I’ve ever experienced. HIIII FROM MT ASSINIBOINE 🏔️🪻✨ Several years ago, I saw a single photo of Mt Assiniboine & became instantly obsessed with visiting this Canadian provincial park on the border of BC & Alberta. What I didn’t know at the time was just how much of a hidden gem this area really is! “…Cinnabon?” - every person’s reaction when I told them where we were climbing this summer 😂 But this is no bakery… it’s one of the most spectacular (& apparently underrated) parks in all of Canada, all centred around the iconic Mt Assiniboine— appropriately nicknamed “the Matterhorn of the Rockies” 🏔️ It’s a loooooong backpacking trip to even get into the park (30km to Lake Magog from our entry point at Sunshine Banff), but once you’re here, it’s a paradise of lakeside campsites, scenic day hikes, class 3/4 scrambles & airy summits truly unlike anywhere else. And with precious few permits available, it’s easy to feel like you’ve got the whole place to yourself 🤩 Sharing everything from our 10-day itinerary to recommended day hikes to our white-knuckled summit of Mt Assiniboine herself over this next week, so stay tuned! cheers to 4 years of full-time travel ✨ This week marked the 4 year anniversary of my one-way flight out of Melbourne, a decision that changed my life in more ways than I ever could have imagined. I’d saved $70k AUD & planned to travel for 2 years on that money before heading back home, back to the “real world”, back to the responsibilities everyone said I was supposed to want. But somewhere along the way I realised I’d changed too much to ever really go back & this WAS my real world now. It’s been 1460 days since I’ve had a permanent address or worked a regular job, and I know this life isn’t for everyone— I have no routine, no physical community, an ever-shifting calendar of timezones & a penchant for ending up in foreign hospitals— but it’s always felt like exactly what I was made for. My life on the road has given me so much. Freedom to write my own story, to pursue dreams that don’t fit into the confines of a normal life, to climb tall mountains & sleep under starry skies & swim in midnight oceans & breathe air from a million different moments in time. To find love & happiness & success on my own terms. Cheers to 50 countries & too many amazing moments to count, but most importantly, cheers to making this life whatever you want it to be 🍾✨
